Allergies and Chiropractic care.
I looked out the window this morning and I saw the best and worst things ever. Dandelions everywhere and the many oak trees in my yard are covered with oak beards. I am thrilled that warmer weather is here but my allergies are no fan of the month of May.
So here are some tips that this chiropractor will give that help me through the allergy season.
Keep your windows, doors and garages closed. A simple task that we all ignore but it does help keep the allergens out of your house. If you have a HEPA filter system use it, also change your furnaces filter every two weeks during the peak allergy season.
Saline washes are great for some people. I will be honest the Neti-pot seemed to make my sinuses worse. I switched from using a Neti-pot to breathing in steam with some essential oils or Vick’s melted in it. I bring a pot of water up to just boiling then add 3 drops off Eucalyptus oil, 3 drops of Rosemary oil, 2 drops of Tea tree oil and 2 drops Myrtle oil. I put a towel over my head and sit away from the steam so I don’t burn myself and breathe in the vapor for ten minutes. Be very careful not to burn yourself if you try this.
Take a shower every night before bed time to rinse the pollen off your body and hair. Change your pillow case every night as well. The pillow case catches a lot of pollen then we bury our heads in the pollen when we sleep. This tip has helped me as much as anything.
Probiotics are great and unless you are lactose intolerant the best way to ingest them is eating yogurt. Most all yogurts contain Lactobacillus acidophilus. This bacterium is essential in maintaining a healthy digestive system.
If you live in the Rolla area try and find local Honey. Honey is nature’s way of vaccinating you. The bee’s honeys’ contains the local allergens and help you build a tolerance from them.
Seeing a board certified Chiropractor is a great idea as well. These are just a few tips that I use to battle my bad allergies.
